the art project entitled “Dinner” examines the subjects of food, eating, the kitchen, cooking. the authors develop
these concepts in collaboration with katja skušek (swedish kitchen / picnic 2003/94, habibi 2005, culinary
performance 2007, the golden thigh 2008). for this event, ten guests are invited for dinner. each of them brings
their own choice of food, and the guests can create their own meal. the dinner was both a private and public
event, as it took place in a gallery environment. the social event was on display, and the scene of the event
remained on display for two days after Dinner.
this is another example of their food-themed projects. the recent golden thigh exhibition focused on food
obsessions, and the latest project documents this topic in a social context. the exhibition hall of the Ljubljana-based
art.si gallery hosted ten well-known personalities from different cultural backgrounds. celebrity guests included
professor lev kreft from the faculty of arts, sculptor boštjan potokar, artist rene rusian and others, who enjoyed a
social dinner on the day of the jewish sabbath – the traditional day of rest. the video recording of the event is on
display at the gallery as of yesterday.
